How Do We Choose Car Film?-ETIE Tips

- Oct 17, 2025-

Car film can play a role in explosion prevention, heat insulation, and privacy protection, so we choose to apply car film as soon as we buy a new car. Generally, car films in stores are divided into many grades with different parameters. How do we choose car film?
1. Transmittance and clarity
Transparency and clarity are the most important performance factors related to driving safety in automotive films, and it is necessary to ensure good driving performance regardless of whether it is rainy or nighttime. The window film, especially for the front gear and side front windows, should have a light transmittance of at least 70%, and the material should ensure good clarity under various environmental conditions. Rear gear and side rear windows can choose car film with relatively lower light transmittance.
2. Insulation rate
Infrared radiation is the main source of heat. High quality car explosion-proof film can reflect infrared radiation, so the temperature inside the car is relatively low. Then reduce the air conditioning load and save fuel. Some car wrap only has transparency and no insulation rate. Although the sun is not as glaring anymore, the temperature inside the car is still extremely high. Therefore, when selecting, it is important to pay attention to the thermal insulation performance of the car film, which not only serves as the main criterion for evaluating the quality of a thermal insulation film, but also determines the price.
3. Explosion proof
In the event of accidental collision or external object impact, the tempered glass of the car window may break. The explosion-proof film can firmly adhere to the tempered glass to prevent glass fragments from splashing and injuring people, rather than truly preventing explosions. Explosion proof film has three important performance parameters for the explosion-proof degree of the substrate, namely tensile strength, peel strength, and puncture strength. This parameter can indicate the explosion-proof performance of the product, indicating the state in which the car glass, after being coated with film, reaches the level of not splashing and injuring people.
4. UV blocking rate
Ultraviolet radiation is very harmful to the human body, and excessive ultraviolet radiation can easily accelerate the aging of various car interior decorations such as dashboard. Therefore, the UV blocking rate is also an important parameter to consider when choosing automotive film.
5. Film anti scratch layer
High quality film has a scratch resistant layer on its surface, which can protect the film surface from scratches under normal use. Low end films are prone to scratches, making the film surface unclear.
